NON-EXPLOSIVE ROCK BREAKING
DRILLING AND BLASTING
When you are clearing an area to prepare for upcoming construction projects, one of the most common causes of delay is the discovery of hard bedrock under the surface of the site. While it is possible to remove this rock using mechanical means it is a time-consuming process that can set projects and budgets back hours at a time.
Drill and blast excavation is the most used methods for excavation throughout the world. It’s incredibly versatile and can be tailored to match the terrain and type of rock that needs to be cleared resulting in quick and cost-effective demolition and excavation.
Drill and blast excavation is the controlled use of explosives partnered with mechanical demolition methods to break apart rocks for excavation purposes. The process to set up a drill and blast involves using an excavator tool with a rock breaking tool attached to drill or cut holes into the rock area. These holes are then filled and rigged with an explosive charge and detonated resulting in a clear area ready to be developed.
While this process is most commonly used in the mining, quarrying and civil engineering industries, it has applications in multiple different construction sectors.
Decades of staff experience have gone into creating a specialised blasting process that puts safety first as a priority. All of our staff are highly qualified and fully trained to conduct drill and blast processes on any scale and for any project type no matter the industry. From civil blasting to blasting for mining and construction needs the team at Industry West can handle it.
